What We Do & Why

Introducing a child to community service work at a young age is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give their child. Helping others teaches compassion, whether serving food, preparing a food bag, or helping an elderly client place a BINGO! chip.  Volunteering as a family is a direct and powerful way to teach our children social responsibility, and it generates endless opportunities for discussion about the world we live in.

As a life-long volunteer, I was excited when my kids were finally old enough for me to introduce them to community service work. I spent days researching online and calling organizations around the city looking for opportunities for us to volunteer together.  I was shocked by how scarce and complicated the process was.  Most places wouldn’t allow children even when accompanied by a parent.  Why was this so hard? This inspired me to launch FAMILIES GIVE BACK. Our goal is to make it easy (and fun!) for families to volunteer together. We are working with local community organizations to create safe, age-appropriate programs for children of all ages and their families. FAMILIES GIVE BACK is bridging the gap for families and the organizations that rely on volunteers to fulfill their mission. Experience first-hand the difference you can make in someone else’s life and share that joy with your children. It can be transformative. A positive and rewarding volunteer experience can translate to a lifetime of giving back and, in turn, inspire others to get involved.  Our lives are busy and complicated, but helping others in need is always worth putting on the calendar.
